Comments: | Feist is my favorite fantasy author. This is my interpretation of one of my favorite scenes: Milamber at the Arena Games. Apalled by the bloodthirst and violence of the Tsurani, Milamber is outraged. He unleashes his power in a punishing series of elemental chaos, raining death and destruction as his judgement for their transgressions upon mankind. It took me a few days to do this one. I used a mixed media of graphite, charcoal, colored pencils, markers, and some computer touch-ups to create this look. It was certainly hard to get the pose correct, and if I planned it out better, maybe I could've gotten more satisfying results. |

Feist's Elf Queen Aglaranna & Tomas (Valheru)

Comments: | The chapters showing the turbulent nature of the Elven Queen & Tomas' relationship in Raymond E. Feist's Riftwar books really struck a nerve. Tomas was turning into the Valheru, changing his sweet, easygoing nature into one more disturbing, powerful. He was always enamored with Aglaranna, but as he began to change into the ancient dragon-rider Ashen-Shugar, he became driven, demanding, and very powerful. In this picture, it shows the queen at the front. She is trying to lead her people, but the presence of Tomas in the Valheru armor looms behind her and closer to the throne. I wanted this to show that even though she is in the front facing her people, Tomas as Ashen is behind her and closer to the throne... The queen is dressed in very little, because that's how he wanted her to dress. While Tomas was changing, so was the elves around him... becoming more submissive to the power that eminates from him. This is done in pencil. I wish I had inked or painted it, but I lacked the ink and the patience at the time |

Faerie Queen from Raymond E. Feist's 'Faerie Tale' (B&W Version)

Comments: | Here's the Faerie Queen original scanned in as line art at 72 dpi (never intended to put this version up online, since I planned to turn it into a computer graphic). As you can see, the scan is pretty bad, but since I wasn't going to 'magic wand' or 'trace' it, it served my purposes alright. Actually, I kind of like it. |

Comments: | Though it was a pretty scary book (it being dark fantasy), I really loved reading 'Faerie Tale'. I was especially intrigued by the fae portrayed in the book, and its relations to actual myths and fairy tales. This one is done completely by computer. I drew a quick sketch (took about 10 minutes) and then redrew it manually to create vector graphics. I was tempted to use the 'trace' or 'magic wand' options, but wanted to keep the sketch in light pencil, thinking to alter it later. I found I have more control if I vectored the entire thing, and I think this pic took me all week to do (during my free time). This is my first time doing a vectored character image like this, but I like the results (though compressing it to jpg really mucked it up!). I'll also try to post the black & white original scan as well. I used CorelDraw 10 & 11 to draw this in the computer. |

Comments: | I love Raymond Feist. The first time I picked up his book, I was spellbound. I also became intrigued with the Tsurani's side of the Riftwar. I watched Mara grow and change in strength and courage. I cried with her, and exulted with her; she is certainly a force to be respected and admired. This is the first time drawing a character from a book, and I hope I do the great Mara justice. Drawn on Bristol w/ #2 mechanical pencil.. |

Dragon Waiting: Inspired by Raymond E. Feist

Comments: | I'm not exactly sure if this is a scene from Feist's Riftwar books, but I did this with the books in mind. When I did this, I thought of Tomas finding Ashen-Shugar's armor, and since they are masters of dragons, I thought to place the dragon in there to guard the armor and the Valheru's treasure. Just seemed fitting. Did this in pencil and charcoal. In the background, there is a door with someone's silhouette... that would be Tomas. |
