There was an old spell in the original D&D which was Stone/Mud. So Steve Abrams came up with the Mudcrafter's guild, which meant you could build a castle or some other building in less time, because you could gather a lot of stone in a place, turn it to mud, have forms set up and shape it like you would concrete, then turn it back into stone. The cheap version was to start with mud, but you had pray that no one came along and threw a dispell magic on your castle.
